Into the Break

Into the Break

Artist’s Statement: D J Wilson, LRPS

Frozen in mid-action, the body boarder face into whitewater fury. The sea towers, exploding into form, while the figure braces, almost silhouetted against the violence.

This is a portrait of resilience—youth versus nature, motion versus moment, framed by the eternal theatre of wave and rock.

He lifts his board and leans into

a wall of fury white and blue —

the rocks beneath, the sky above,

he meets the chaos with a shove.

The ocean roars, it does not yield,

yet still he dares to share its field.

Not battle, no — but wild ballet,

where board and boy must find their way.
