Baby Croc

Baby Croc

Artist’s Statement: D J Wilson, LRPS

A young crocodile rests at the water’s edge, jaws open to regulate heat in the warmth of the day, its form mirrored in the still surface below.

In this quiet posture lies ancient design — patience, heat, and readiness fused into a single presence. The image, which won a FIAP Ribbon at the Wild Rhino International Salon (Bangladesh) as well as a Certificate of Merit at a National Salon in South Africa, captures the tension between stillness and sudden action, where calm water hides a world of power and explores the quiet authority of a predator that dominates by waiting.
