Breath of the Sea

Artist’s Statement: D J Wilson, LRPS

Close in to shore at Hermanus Old Harbour a Southern Right Whale surfaces, its dark form briefly breaking the restless blue. These moments are fleeting — a breath, a roll, a glimpse of a body shaped by deep water.

The photograph captures the quiet scale of marine life, where presence is sensed as much as seen.
