Palazzi in Painted Light — Grand Canal, Venice
Artist’s Statement: D J Wilson, LRPS
Along the luminous curve of the Grand Canal, the historic façades of Venice rise directly from the water, their Gothic windows and sun-warmed walls reflected in shifting green currents. Rendered in an oil-painting style, the image echoes the city’s long artistic heritage — a place where architecture, water, and light have inspired painters for centuries.
This work celebrates Venice not only as a city of canals, but as a city of reflected light — a place where illumination is doubled, softened, and constantly re-imagined by the water’s surface.
