Whitewater Baptism
There is a moment in bodyboarding when skill gives way to surrender. The rider commits to the break, knowing that control is temporary and the sea will have the final word. In this frame, the wave folds around him — not as backdrop, but as force.
I was drawn not to the triumph of the ride, but to the instant of immersion. Spray becomes atmosphere, almost abstract in its texture, reducing the human figure to colour and movement. The small wedge of an orange fin punctuates the turbulence — a fragile geometry within fluid chaos.
Unlike staged or manipulated imagery, this scene unfolded in a split second. The sea sculpted its own composition. What remains is not merely a sporting action, but a portrait of negotiation — between body and water, intent and inevitability.
